Welcome to your first multisport event. Whether you’re training for your first tri or duathlon, we’ve got the gear, guidance, and community to help you show up confident and prepared.

Essentials Checklist:

Keep it simple with these essential items: 

🏊 Swim Gear

🚴 Bike Gear

  • Bike that fits you
  • Helmet (mandatory)
  • Sunglasses
  • Water bottle & nutrition
  • Cycling or running shoes

🏃 Run Gear

  • Race belt for number and nutrition
  • Running shoes
  • Moisture-wicking socks
  • Hat or visor
  • Nutrition/gels

🔁 Transition & Race Day 

  • Sunscreen, baby wipes, Vaseline
  • Duffel bag
  • Flip flops & change of clothes

 First-Timer Tips 

🗒️ Nervous? That’s normal. Confidence comes from preparation. Here’s what we recommend:

  • Practice transitions at home—lay your gear out in order.
  • Read the athlete guide, know the race course, and arrive early to setup for transition.
  • Check your bike ABCs (Air, Brakes, Chain).
  • No headphones—USAT rules.
  • Stay in the moment - focus on where you are presently and don't worry about what's next. Breathe, smile and have fun!
  • Stay wide in the swim if you’re nervous.
  • Don't forget to breathe - exhale and blow bubbles underwater, turn head and breathe. 
  • Do the warmup swim if available to get your heart rate up before starting the swim. 
  • Kick before exiting the swim to warm your legs.
  • Stay to the right on the bike, pass on the left and call out "on your left" when passing.
  • Break the run into chunks (aid station to aid station).
  • Smile at the finish line. It’s your first personal best. Don't forget to zip up your kit for those finish line photos!
