Men's Vida Praia Summit Cycling Bib

I’d never heard of Varlo, but last year I picked up the Varlo Roam bib shorts from REI in a size small. Compared with my other smalls, they were so tight I wore them maybe three times and then gave them away. The quality and craftsmanship, though, were outstanding. I LOVED them.

I came back to the brand after seeing Varlo jerseys on the East Coast Greenway website and learning more about the founding of the company.

I ordered the Vida Praia Summit set: jersey in small (my usual in other brands) and the bib shorts in medium, since the Roam in small ran tiny. Loved both right out of the packaging.

Once they arrived, the jersey turned out too small. I typically wear a race fit, but this was a bit beyond that. I emailed Varlo and set up an exchange. They processed it quickly and I had a medium on my back in short order. Very happy with the jersey.

The shorts, however, are too big. When I first tried them on they didn’t feel as snug as I like, but after the Roam experience I figured I needed to ride in them to know for sure. I did, and sadly they just don’t work for me. And because I rode in them, I can’t return them to try a small.

Looks like I’m giving away another pair of Varlo shorts.

Hugs around the lower body perfectly. Fit is nice and snug. Obviously the design is capturing as well.

Feels great and fits really well for a bigger body cyclist like me.

Definitely a fan of these bib shorts. They fit well and stay in place. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the chamois could be a little more cushioned. Other than that they are excellent!!!

Have only ridden these on the trainer so far but the chammy feels great. Not too much material where it feels like a diaper. The bib materials are also really soft and comfy with no seams bothering me anywhere. Was a little iffy on using my hips instead of waist for sizing but the mediums work for me (thought I'd naturally be a large). Very happy with these shorts so far. Great value!
